If this is where you are

Carrying it all looks the same in the Garden City as it does anywhere else.

The commute up the 406, the school runs, the job, the aging parents, the household only you seem to track. St. Catharines women hold a lot, and most of them are the last person on their own list.

Does this sound like you?

If you found yourself nodding, that's not a character flaw. It's a nervous system that's been asked to carry too much for too long. This is exactly the work we do together.

This isn't about weakness or failure. Often, it's a sign that your system has been under stress for too long without enough support.

Counselling, here

Why local still matters.

Therapy works best when it actually happens, and in a real week, geography decides that more than motivation does. An office you can reach in fifteen minutes gets visited. The Lake Street practice is in the downtown core: walkable from St. Paul Street and Montebello Park, minutes from Highway 406, with parking close by. If you work downtown, a session fits inside a long lunch. If you're coming from Port Dalhousie, Merritton, or the north end, you're not crossing the city for it.

There's also something to working with a counsellor who knows this place. The shift-work rhythms, the commuter grind to Hamilton and the GTA, the particular privacy questions a mid-sized city raises: Sarah practises here, and she built this work for the women of this community.

And when in-person isn't the right fit (a packed week, a preference for distance, a move across the province), the same work continues over secure video, anywhere in Ontario.

Therapy works best when it actually happens, and in a real week, geography decides that.

Local questions

Asked by St. Catharines women, answered plainly.

Where exactly is the practice?

At 49 Lake St in downtown St. Catharines, a few minutes' walk from Montebello Park and the St. Paul Street core. If you work downtown, a session fits inside a long lunch. Street and lot parking are close by, and the location is easy to reach from the 406 or the QEW from anywhere in Niagara.

How soon can I get an appointment?

Start with the free 15-minute consultation; it's usually the fastest first step. From there, in-person and virtual openings vary week to week. Evening demand is highest, so if your schedule is flexible, daytime spots tend to come up sooner. Ask about current availability in the consult.

I'd rather not run into people I know. How private is it?

A fair question in a city this size. The office is a discreet space, sessions are one-on-one, and what you share is protected under Ontario law (PHIPA and PIPEDA), within the standard limits every counsellor follows. If local familiarity still feels like a barrier, virtual sessions offer full distance without giving up the work.

Do you see clients from outside St. Catharines?

Yes. In person, women come from across Niagara: Thorold, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Niagara Falls, Welland, Grimsby, Fort Erie and nearby. Virtually, sessions are open to Ontario residents anywhere in the province, from Toronto to Thunder Bay, at $100 per session.

What do sessions cost, and is there a cheaper option?

In-person sessions at the Lake Street office are $150 for 50 minutes; virtual sessions are $100. Sliding-scale spots are available for qualifying clients, and the first 15-minute consultation is always free. A 24-hour cancellation policy applies to booked sessions.

What kinds of concerns do you work with?

The heart of the practice is high-achieving women and moms dealing with anxiety, burnout, depression, and the patterns underneath: people-pleasing, over-functioning, the mental load. Sarah also carries an ICADC certification for substance use counselling and family support, a specialization few local therapists offer.
